CentraState Staff Transitions to Bigger Roles at Applewood

One of the many attributes of working with a large organization like CentraState Healthcare System is the flexibility to move between various brand and service lines to take advantage of a plethora of career opportunities.

We are pleased to welcome two new staffers who have done this with aplomb:

Kashon (“Coop”) Cooper of Trenton worked in CentraState Security Services for seven years. While he enjoyed the work and created strong relationships with his colleagues, at age 27, he was ready to explore some different options that offered him the opportunity to learn a wider range of skills.

“When I saw Applewood was looking for a new building and mechanical services person, I realized this could help me get my foot in the door to learn new skills such as plumbing, electrical and HVAC,” Kashon explains.

He notes the Building and Mechanical Services staff has been especially welcoming to him and he looks forward to making a solid contribution to the department.

“CentraState has been a solid place to work and it felt natural to look for a new job in the same organization,” Kashon notes. “My future is bright here and I’m expanding my skills so I can continue to move up.”

Moving up to a Director Position

Kate Morrison of southern Monmouth County started her CentraState career as a college intern at The Manor Health and Rehab Center in 2011. She liked working in a non-clinical fashion with the people receiving care and accepted a full-time role as an activities assistant after earning her BFA degree.

“In this job, you’re always doing something different every day, whether you’re planning a holiday party or booking a musical guest,” Kate explains. “There aren’t many jobs like mine where your goal is to plan fun events, host parties and brighten someone’s day.”

When an activities director position at Applewood’s Assisted Living opened up, Kate’s supervisor encouraged her to apply for the more senior role.

“CentraState treats their employees well and offers great benefits,” Kate notes. “Making an internal move is much less stressful than going to another company and having to start all over again.”

Kate says she also appreciates that she can reach out to her former supervisor at The Manor for support and advice and she eases into her managerial role.
