Applewood Awarded Government’s Five-Star Quality Rating

December 2017

Applewood’s Healthcare Center has been awarded a five-star quality rating from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) Five-Star Quality Rating System.

Under the leadership and guidance of Linda Rizzo, Director of Healthcare Services, and Shanna Lee, Director of Nursing, Applewood has been recognized as a premier facility for both Skilled Nursing and Sub-Acute Rehab Services.

“In less than a year, Linda, Shanna and our outstanding Healthcare Services team have earned this nationally-recognized quality award,” says Keith Grady, Executive Director. “The skill and dedication of our managers and staff have reaffirmed the caliber of care our residents receive.”

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services five-star quality rating system was developed to provide the consumer with a way to search for nursing homes that offer the quality of care they desire.

The recognition is awarded based on three key categories:

  1. CMS’s health inspections issued during the three most recent state inspections
  2. Overall quality of care
  3. Ratio of nursing staff hours to residents

The Unique CCRC Peace-of-Mind

“As a continuing care retirement community (CCRC), many residents never require a higher level of care,” says Grady. “But if the need arises, our seniors can rest assured they will receive outstanding health care services, without the need to leave the familiarity of home.”

Applewood is a non-profit CCRC offering casually elegant apartments and cottages for active, independent seniors, supported by sub-acute rehab, assisted living and skilled nursing care, if ever needed. It is part of the CentraState Healthcare System. To learn more about comprehensive retirement community living in central New Jersey, call (732) 303-7416.
