Resident Clubs Nurture Interests, Hobbies and Passions

At Applewood, you’ll meet all kinds of  interesting senior residents from around the country and across the pond. And many have talents and skills to share. For example, a native of France started a French language instruction program and a retired professional calligrapher teaches an instructional class once a week in the Crafting Studio.

TED Talks at Applewood

This resident-organized program is a popular addition to the Lifelong Learning program at Applewood.   Resident volunteers select 12 topics, one per month, after watching hours of options on  TED.com, where more than 25,000 expert presentations are available. Residents then volunteer to facilitate one of the chosen subjects.  Some residents propose their own topics where they are subject matter experts making a very personalized experience for both the speaker and audience.

Applewood’s TED Talks series is held on the second Wednesday of the month at 11 am.  Residents are invited to join in by first watching the TED Talk online, followed by a resident-facilitated discussion.

If you have a hobby or interest you’d like to pursue that isn’t currently on the Applewood calendar, an Engaged Living™ coordinator will help you launch it and invite other like-minded senior residents to join. Alternatively you can become an active participant of the CREATETM committee.

Whatever your interests, you won’t have to look far to discover an opportunity to pursue those passions you’ve been waiting to ignite here at Applewood.
