New Student Recruiting Campaign Boosts Dining Services Staff
During an unprecedented shortage of part-time workers, Applewood has established an innovative recruiting effort targeting younger workers for Dining Services jobs at Applewood.
Spearheaded by Santina Valente, employee relations business partner for Senior Services, Applewood Student Jobs was launched in December 2021 through in-person presentations at Freehold High School’s Health Sciences and Culinary Arts program.
“We are happy to welcome students who are eager to learn new skills and who are happy to be a part of an engaging retirement community.” Interested students can easily apply for a position on their smartphone devices by clicking on the QR code:
Currently, the community outreach campaign targets 16 to 18-year-old high school students to work part-time as dining room wait staff. The program has already resulted in seven student hires.
“By visiting the schools in-person, we were able to fully explain these opportunities to students,” Tina explains. “Our QR code application process allows them to easily apply for jobs and upload their resumes directly from their phones.”
