The Memory Care Center at Applewood Nears Grand Opening

Applewood will soon open a new residential dementia and Alzheimer’s Memory Care Center on the campus of its Engaged Living senior community.

Serving up to 11 residents, this smaller, personalized setting will provide individualized program development for each resident based upon their abilities, medical history and aspirations.

The New Jersey Department of Health completed its pre-opening inspection in February 2019 and reported zero deficiencies in all categories.

Residents will have private rooms with full baths, surrounded by an active social and skill-strengthening environment where residents have a close relationship with staff and neighbors.

Services include 24/7 memory care support by licensed practical nurses, daily social activity and cognitive therapy schedule, restaurant-quality meals and weekly housekeeping services.

The Memory Care Center at Applewood supports this proven memory care model based on studies that people with Alzheimer’s/dementia thrive when a care model is tailored for their individual needs.

Working in partnership with an engaging physical environment, this care model helps to solidify and maintain residents’ health, safety, functional independence and life enjoyment through a three-pronged care approach:

• Simplify a resident’s world by identifying the ideal mix of activities engagement without creating stress or discomfort.
• Earn resident trust through the consistent messaging of positivity, independence, safety, joy and hope.

The new home was made possible through the support of Applewood residents John and Audrey Statesir, who made a generous contribution in honor of John’s mother.
