Staff Profile: Anthony Jenzer – Maintenance Tech & Painter

“You know when Anthony has been around because everything looks fresh, clean and new,” says Bill Hunter, Building Services Supervisor. “He is neat, meticulous and takes great pride in the quality of his work.”

Though you may not have encountered him in person, Anthony’s silent dedication and craftsmanship envelop the walls and ceilings of Applewood. Frequently working in the evenings to minimize disruption to residents or activities, we all benefit from his efforts. Take a moment in the corridors or Fitness Center locker rooms, and you’ll undoubtedly appreciate the clean and bright atmosphere he has meticulously created. 

Anthony Jenzer comes from a long line of professional painters, including his father, who taught him the technical skills he needed to join him in a nationally recognized trade organization.

Despite the diversity of his commercial assignments, spanning from outdoor construction projects in high-rise buildings to working odd hours in cramped urban locations, he relished the challenges. However, after over five years, he grew weary of the regular two to three-hour commutes each way to distant job sites. These lengthy journeys left minimal time to savor his life and the pleasures of living at the Jersey Shore.

“On a whim, I applied to CentraState Healthcare System without even knowing about Applewood,” Anthony recalls. “When I came to Building Services to interview, I met other guys who live near me and are really happy working at Applewood.”

Anthony soon became the first full-time staff painter at Applewood. His role includes acting as a Maintenance Tech, repairing or troubleshooting operational issues. “This is completely different from my previous job, but in a good way,” Anthony notes. “My first love is painting, but I’m grateful to learn other new skills from my team here.” Anthony’s role is primarily focused on painting and maintaining the public spaces at Applewood, but he also paints resident apartments and cottage homes during the renovation process before new residents move in.
