Message from Keith Grady, Executive Director

It is my great pleasure to announce that Customer Relations Coordinator, Susan Gelbard, has been recognized for Applewood’s highest employee honor this year.

It is difficult to describe her talent and dedication to our community in just a few words. She lives and breathes CentraState Healthcare System and Applewood, 24/7.

If there is one word to describe Susan, it would be “Ambassador.”

Susan is not just a cheerleader for Applewood, but she takes the time out to ensure our staff understands “how CentraState is done!”

Over her 25 years at Applewood, she has exemplified the true culture of our community—respect, caring, professionalism—and good humor.

Susan has never said “no” to anything she is asked to do.  She will take time out of her day to assist residents and staff with personal issues, including driving residents to the grocery store or forgotten appointments in one of our community sedans.

Operationally, Susan has a keen ability to find better processes to complete tasks faster and more cost-effectively.

She has developed many of the great ideas we have implemented over the past several years, including improved bus schedules, efficient storage and handling, and delivered packages. Susan is not afraid to challenge managers to find a better way to accomplish small and large tasks.

Susan is the go-to person for all things Applewood and knows the history of all things Applewood, providing us with a priceless historical resource that we call on continuously.

When new residents have questions, they quickly know that Susan can provide the answers. She has garnered a great following with residents and staff.

Susan is continuously involved in community events, including the auxiliary dinner and the volunteer lunch, diligently working behind the scenes to ensure these festivities are enjoyable for all attendees.

Susan is truly an asset to the Applewood team, the residents, and all family members she helps.  She has a true gift to know when help is needed and the ability to get things done!  We would be lost without her, and Applewood would not be the same without her bright outlook, her smile, and her gift to make others smile!
