Applewood Celebrates Active Aging Week by Exercising, Painting and Discovering Chakras

Last week, we joined in the spirit of Active Aging Week by offering a special menu of events to challenge and inspire residents’ physical, social, spiritual, artistic and intellectual fitness.

“Being older means you finally have the time and freedom to do what you enjoy or aspire to try,” says Joan Cinque, C.A.L.A., manager of resident services. “Active Aging Week provides a platform for our seniors to push themselves mentally and physically in a fun and social atmosphere.”

In addition to a full spectrum of regularly-scheduled lifestyle events, residents were invited to step outside their comfort zones to try something new.

Active Aging Week events at Applewood in New Jersey

* Nature trip and 3-mile hike at the Manasquan Reservoir

* 18-hole golf outing at the Pine Brook Golf Course

* Glass painting & wine social hour

* The Seven Chakras (mind/body) session sponsored by CentraState Healthcare System

Wanda Garrin, Engaged Living™ coordinator, said the special events also welcomed some new residents who came out to enjoy the activities and get to know their new neighbors.

“Applewood is a beautiful place to live, but we also offer a socially-engaging atmosphere to promote every resident’s happiness and health for years to come,” Wanda says.
