Senior Health and Wellness is a Priority at Applewood

Personalized On-Site Senior Health Management

“A key component to Applewood’s Engaged Livingprogram is providing tools and support to help every resident be as healthy as possible,” says Joan Cinque, manager of Resident Services.

“Part of our wellness curriculum is helping people with chronic conditions to use all the resources available to live their best life possible.”

In partnership with CentraState Healthcare System’s Live Life Well program, Joan is overseeing a free six-week program designed for those living with diabetes, arthritis, high blood pressure, depression, heart or lung disease or other chronic conditions.

“Every day, healthcare is finding new and better ways to lessen or even eliminate disease symptoms,” Joan explains.

“This program ensures residents have the tools to manage any chronic conditions and be as healthy as possible.”

Personalized Health & Wellness Guidance

During the weekly 2.5-hour sessions, participants learn how to set individual goals and make a weekly step-by-step action plan, with personalized guidance from CentraState’s Health Awareness Center peer leaders, Kate Prybylski, RN, and Bella Grevesen, RN, BSN, including:

  • One-on-one support to maximize quality of life
  • Learning about new treatment options
  • Finding practical strategies to deal with pain and fatigue
  • Discovering better nutrition and exercise choices
  • How to effectively communicate with doctors and loved ones
Country Club-Style Fitness and Wellness Amenities

Applewood offers a wealth of fitness and wellness amenities—from the heated indoor pool & spa to the fitness center with fitness classes, outdoor sporting courts and walking trails.

For guidance, our full-time fitness and wellness coordinator, Daniel Piereth, can offer individualized exercise plans for seniors at all health and fitness levels, including those managing chronic medical conditions.

“One of the benefits of living at Applewood is the easy access to on-site experts in all walks of life,” Joan explains.

“We are proud of the fact that residents are only a short walk to social, cultural and wellness programs every day of the week.”
